Perelman, Sidney Joseph

(1904-79)
   American author. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Providence, Rhode Island. He studied at Brown University, and later lived in Greenwich Village where he drew cartoons for the weekly Judge. From 1934 he contributed to the New Yorker. His works include Dawn Ginsbergh's Revenge, Acres and Pains, Westward Ha!, Swiss Family Perelman, The Rising Gorge, Baby, It's Cold Inside and Vinegar Pass. He wrote movie scripts and collaborated with the Marx Brothers for Monkey Business and Horsefeathers. His screenplay for Around the World in Eighty Days won an Academy Award.
